Buckland Dive Centre

Hi honey, erm... I think I'm gonna be late for dinner!

Took a pootle down to Buckland dive centre with Matt.  Matt hadn’t been since it opened and it was my first time.  We explored the pump house, VERY dark and foreboding, but very interesting once inside, though not for the faint hearted as it’s pitch black in places.  Really liked the site, the amenities will improve with time, but the diving is great and perfect for a wreck course.  Most of the wrecks are roped off from the platforms and only a slight amount of silt so the viz is great.

Steve and Linda were friendly and helpful and we’ll definitely be going back!

Dry Suits Pike & Eels!

7/1/2011

Ah, the joys of Wraysbury!  Back again to teach the Dry Suit course to two gents who are experienced divers but want to dive in the UK.  Once again, fitting the dry suit before hand; explaining the theory of dry suit diving and giving them chance to read up on the subject made for a much better course.  Buoyancy practice went well and emergency drills carried out to perfection.  Wraysbury also revealed a new secret; Eels!  I have never seen an eel there before.  The Pike were also rather conspicuous today which I suspect is down to the copious amounts of young roach swimming around.

Open Water in Dulwich

15 students from Dulwich College on an Open Water course!  What could be more fun?  Teaching for Dive Wimbledon for four days, we split the group in three and taught them the Open Water Referral, straight through to Open Water divers.  A couple qualified as SCUBA divers as they're not quite ready for diving with a buddy, but a great four days and a huge amount of fun!  Thanks guys!
